Family story: Muhammad and Iqra

Posted on Mar 26, 2025 9:39:28 AM

For Muhammad and Iqra, every decision they make comes back to one thing: building a better future for their children. Zaviyar (6) and Zarnish (3) are growing up fast, and their parents want to give them more than just a house—they want to give them stability, community, and a place to truly call home.

These parents have worked tirelessly to build a better life for their kids. Muhammad juggles full-time work with completing a diploma in Supply Chain Management, while Iqra balances part-time work as a healthcare aide with finishing her studies to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Through it all, their goal has remained the same: to give their children the stability they never had growing up.

Donor profile: Hockey helps Habitat

Posted on Oct 18, 2024 12:07:06 PM

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of hoisting the Stanley Cup over my shoulders. Skating around the community rink—the kind without boards that was flooded with hose water by the neighbourhood dads—pretending that I was in the NHL.

Did I play hockey? No. Truth is, I didn’t even own hockey skates. All of those Stanley Cups I “won” were on figure skates, with a broom as my stick and a chunk of ice as my puck.

There is something innately baked into Canadians and our love for hockey. Keep reading to see how a nationwide hockey tournament has contributed more than $28 million to over 60 charities across Canada.
