[Video] Introducing Monica Kretschmer: Women Build Ambassador

Posted by Lisa Hallet on Mar 27, 2017 12:08:31 PM

Monica is one of six Calgary women stepping forward to advocate for the need for affordable housing in our city

Right now, more than 4,000 people are on the waitlist for social housing in Calgary. Our city is expensive, and women and children are the populations most likely to be affected by unstable living conditions.

Monica, along with five other local women, has taken on the role of Women Build Ambassador, to mobilize the community to address the need for affordable housing through Habitat for Humanity's Women Build

For Monica, being part of Women Build is about addressing issues of raising children without stable housing. Watch her story to see what inspired her to become an Ambassador.

Meet all six Women Build Ambassadors

What is Women Build?

We’ve set aside six days this May exclusively for women to fundraise and build Habitat for Humanity homes with in the northeast community of Pineridge.

You'll work alongside experienced Crew Leaders, other Women Build participants and future Habitat homeowners.Whether you’re learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience, and improves the communities that we all share.

Come with a team or come alone and make new friends. The atmosphere is welcoming, inviting, collaborative and friendly. Space is filling up quickly! Learn more about Women Build and how you can get involved.
