Habitat builds in new and established communities. Our partner families find that new communities are full of excitement and potential while older communities have a very friendly community vibe to them. When Habitat builds a new home and allows new families into an established neighbourhood, we know they are going to add their own flavour to the community. Quite often, when we acquire land in these established communities, there exists a previous home which needs to be removed before we can build. In most cases, one old home yields enough space for four Habitat homes, sometimes more.
For the new sixplex in Bowness, Bluebird Contracting Services stepped up to the challenge beautifully. Bluebird is a Trotter & Morton company that has been providing earthworks, demolition and underground services in Alberta for 40 years. They removed the existing home as well as the garage and storage sheds at no cost to Habitat.
