Progress in Pineridge

Posted by Habitat Admin on Dec 10, 2015 2:06:33 PM

Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta opened our latest build site to volunteers just after our official groundbreaking ceremony on November 12. If you saw the site then and now you would not believe your eyes. The first fourplex has gone from a hole in the ground to something that looks like a house, with a framed basement, first floor walls and a rough second floor. The second fourplex wasn’t even a hole in the ground during the ceremony, and now it’s ready for to have the first floor walls raised.

Simply put, the progress on site has been incredible and we want to send a special thank you to our sponsors for getting us this far. Simply put, we couldn’t build without you. The Alberta Real Estate Foundation (AREF), Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB), Calgary Mortgage and Housing Company (CMHC), the Co-op Foundation and Rotary Club West have all contributed significantly to the build and we can’t thank them enough.

The first two fourplexes will be home to eight hardworking local families, including 25 children. These children won’t have to grow up worrying about moving or changing schools. They’ll have a home where they can feel safe to live and love and learn. That's a pretty incredible thing.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped us get this far!
