What motivates a leading North American energy producer to support affordable homeownership and community development? Rachel Moore, Executive Vice President of Corporate Services, tells us why Ovintiv invests in and supports Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta.
Industry Build: where corporate responsibility meets a genuine belief in the strength of community.
Can you share a bit about your role at Ovintiv and how it intersects with community engagement and philanthropy?
As Executive Vice President of Corporate Services, I have the privilege of leading Ovintiv’s human resources, information technology, communications, sustainability, and administrative services. This includes stewardship over our social investment program, which focuses on partnering with organizations that are aligned with our purpose of making modern life possible.
As a leading North American energy producer, we are proud to support programs and initiatives like Habitat for Humanity, which help to address basic needs, such as affordable housing, to build and strengthen our communities.

What motivated Ovintiv to become involved with Habitat for Humanity and support initiatives like Industry Build?
We are excited to return as the Presenting Sponsor of Industry Build 2024. At Ovintiv, we understand the importance of supporting community wellness and we are always looking for ways to give back and make life better where we live and work.
This philosophy is deeply embedded in our day-to-day culture, and the Habitat Build Days are events that our employees look forward to every year.
It is a tangible way for people to get involved in the community and work alongside their peers in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, to provide hard-working families with a foundation for their future—one where they can thrive and grow.
Rachel writes a personal message of encouragement for the future homeowners. Volunteers write messages of love, encouragement, and support on the studs of every Habitat Southern Alberta home.
How do you believe Habitat's mission aligns with the values and goals of Ovintiv?
We actively seek partners who share our vision and mirror our values. Habitat carries out the important work of strengthening communities; building safety, security, and a sense of belonging through affordable homeownership.
We are aligned in wanting to create a world where everyone enjoys the dignity of a safe and decent place to call home. The Habitat for Humanity builds allow our employees to learn about issues facing our communities, and to be an active part of a solution – it’s the embodiment of our purpose in making modern life possible.

Have there been any standout moments or experiences from your involvement with Habitat that you'd like to share?
It continues to be a privilege and an honor to participate in Industry Build. Last year, our employees rolled up their sleeves and worked side-by-side volunteering to build homes for deserving families. I was lucky enough to participate and it was an incredible experience.
Our team ended the day with a great sense of pride and accomplishment in helping build these homes, knowing the positive impact they will have on hard-working families.
Together with our peers, we really made a difference and contributed to creating vibrant communities and a better place to live.
Participants helped to build these 11 affordable homes in the Northeast Calgary community of Cornerstone.
What message would you like to convey to others who may be considering supporting Habitat for Humanity or getting involved in similar community initiatives?
Stable housing is essential for families to grow and thrive. Habitat for Humanity provides families in Southern Alberta with the opportunity to plant roots and build a foundation for their future.
We consistently hear about the benefit that our employees see in spending time with their colleagues, collaborating on a project that builds up the community that we all value.
"We are proud to partner with an organization that truly brings community together, and would encourage others to join us in building stronger communities through affordable housing."
