For the last six years, Ride Through The Rockies has challenged riders to fundraise and cycle through the mountains. The effects of COVID-19 has stopped riders from cycling together, but it hasn't stopped their commitment to help local families build stability through affordable home ownership.
This year our riders are going online and you're invited to participate.
After signing up, each rider will have the choice of how far they want to ride and where they ride. Then through Strava and a private Facebook, riders will come together online on August 22nd to share their rides and support each other.
“To see a family get the keys to their house and know it’s theirs. We tap into that energy and that experience. It really turns a key in your heart to want to help with something like this.”
- kEN CROCKETT, FOUNDER OF RIDE THROUGH THE ROCKIES
Although it is not required this year, riders are also welcome to use their personal network to fundraise for Habitat for Humanity.
The families that Habitat serves are very vulnerable to the current economic slow down. Restaurant workers, labourers and administrative staff were laid off in large numbers as businesses contract.
In the Habitat model, families work alongside supporters to build their homes and then purchase these homes with no down-payment and no interest.
Your donations help us support current Habitat families from reducing or deferring payments, to providing additional resources to help them navigate new realities; as well as invite new families into our program.
Since 2014, this event, sponsored by Star Building Materials, has raised over $700,000 for local families. Ride with us on August 22nd to raise awareness and funds for safe, affordable home ownership in southern Alberta.

Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta is a non-profit organization that helps families build strength, stability and independence through affordable home ownership.
In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.
