A big smile, a generous heart, and more than 2000 hours of building affordable homes. Crew Leader Cliff shares the people and purpose that keep him coming back to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta.

Not every Habitat volunteer picks up a hammer.  

Sometimes, they show up with massage tables, volunteer at fundraising events, or find creative ways to support families long after the homes are built. For Sarah Tennent and Sam McGuire from Three Peaks Teaching and Research Clinic, giving back has become part of how they care for their community.

Crew Leader Mario has become a familiar face on Habitat build sites in Southern Alberta. Since 2019, he has contributed nearly 1,800 volunteer hours building affordable homes, supporting fellow volunteers, and creating lasting impact for local families. 

From single home builds to multi-unit developments, 2026 Habitat Canada Exceptional Volunteer Service Award recipient Byron has been part of Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta’s growth for nearly two decades.

Rick first started volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta in 2018. More than 1,300 hours later, he continues to show up week after week as a Crew Leader, helping families build stable futures while learning new skills alongside a dedicated team of volunteers.

Steve has been volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta since 2019, lending his skills on construction sites and in the ReStore nearly every Monday. From building and repairs to helping customers and staff, Steve’s dedication shows how volunteering can be both meaningful and deeply rewarding.
