Since 1990, Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta has helped more than 400 families across the region, allowing over 1,200 children grow up in safe, stable homes.

A home of their own
After years of uncertainty, Avon and Romano finally have a safe, stable home where their children can grow and thrive. In their Habitat home, their daughter recovered her health, their son hosted his first birthday party with friends, and their family started to plan for the future together.

Every Habitat home starts with people who show up to help. Last year alone, 1,495 volunteers gave more than 41,200 hours of their time and skills to build homes, run ReStores, and support local families.
From framing walls to sorting donations, each volunteer hour brings us closer to making safe, affordable homeownership possible. Together, we’re building stronger communities, one project at a time.

From local businesses to community groups, our partners play a big role in helping families build safe, affordable homes. Their support, ideas, and teamwork make a lasting impact in communities across Southern Alberta.
One example is Ride Through the Rockies. This annual bike ride is organized by local supporters who care about making a difference. For 12 years, cyclists, donors, and sponsors have come together raising more than $2 million so more families can have a place to call home.
This year, they raised more than $425,000. Every dollar helps working families put down roots in a permanent home where they can build stronger futures.

After moving three times in six years, Sammy and Rita are still searching for the stability many families take for granted. Through Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta’s affordable homeownership program, they are now working toward a safe, permanent place their family can finally call home.

Faris and Ashna are raising their two boys in a small basement suite in Calgary. With limited space, shared access, and little stability, planning for the future has felt out of reach. Now, they are looking ahead to a home where their family can finally settle.
