Ride Through the Rockies raises record funds for affordable housing

Cyclists and volunteers gather for a pre-ride safety meeting in Pincher Creek.

Calgary homebuilding professionals cycle over 300 km to build affordable homes in Southern Alberta

Calgary, AB – August 18 , 2025 — A total of 35 riders, many representing Calgary’s homebuilding and construction industry, completed the 12th annual Ride Through the Rockies, presented by Star Building Materials and supported by Qualico and Borger Group of Companies in support of Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta, raising more than $435,000 to help families across Southern Alberta access safe, affordable housing.

Hosted in Pincher Creek for the first time, the three-day, 300 km ride brought together cyclists, volunteers, and sponsors with a shared goal: ensuring more families have the opportunity to buy a home and build a better future.

Many of this year’s cyclists are based in Calgary, including teams and individuals from companies across the homebuilding, construction, and real estate sectors. Their collective efforts will support Habitat’s work, including the upcoming development of 24 new homes in Chestermere’s Dawson’s Landing community.

Martine Yzerman, a five-time Rider and passionate supporter:

“Cycling has always been my passion, but Ride Through the Rockies gave it a purpose. The ride is tough—there are moments you want to quit—but then you remember why you’re out there. Knowing that every climb and every kilometer is helping a family move into a safe, affordable home? That changes everything.”
