A journey of hard work and hope for Rosa and Taajelidin
Hard work is at the centre of everything future Habitat homeowners Rosa and Taajelidin have done for each other and their children. After moving from Ethiopia to Egypt in the mid 2010s, they weren’t happy with the opportunities that they had worked for. They then were sponsored by Taajelidin’s family to come to Canada in 2019.
Building a new life in Canada for their growing family
Ever since their move, Taajelidin has held a steady, stable full –time job while having a part-time job on the side. These jobs allow the family to pay for rent and utilities, while also being able to save a for the family’s four children. Rosa stays at home to care for their kids, ages 12, 11, 3, and 1, but in the future, she is looking forward to working, hopefully at the same facility as Taajelidin. Only one goal remains for the pair: owning a home.
Working toward the dream of affordable homeownership
Both Rosa and Taajelidin know the work that will come with owning a home. It won’t be easy, but it will pay off for them and their children. The kids will have more space, where they aren’t sharing rooms with their parents, or each other. The entire family is looking forward to the stability provided by a Habitat affordable mortgage.
How Habitat for Humanity makes stability possible
Rosa, Taajelidin, and their daughters are looking forward for their family to grow, becoming part of the community of Habitat homeowners. They were even referred to the Habitat affordable homeownership program by two different friends who own Habitat homes.
Creating family traditions in a new home and community
The family spends time together whenever they have the chance: watching movies, playing cards, going to the park, or watching movies. They cannot wait to continue their family traditions in their new home, new community, and surrounded by new friends and other Habitat homeowners.
A future built on love, hard work, and home
They will continue to work hard between jobs, working on spending family time together, working hard during their volunteer hours, and working hard to enjoy every second together before and after they move. The one thing they won’t have to work hard at will be enjoying their time together and loving their new home.
