Few industries understand the importance of housing like the people who build it.
Every day, homebuilders see what it takes to bring a home from blueprint to reality. They understand what goes into creating a space where a family can settle in and move forward.
For Sterling Homes Calgary, that understanding shapes how they show up beyond their own builds—and why they support Habitat Southern Alberta.
“We believe in bringing people together and enhancing lives,” says Curt Keil, Vice President Sterling Homes Calgary. “Habitat’s work aligns closely with that. They are helping families’ access affordable homeownership and build a strong foundation for their future.”

A shared responsibility
As a homebuilder, Sterling Homes sees firsthand how important stable housing is.
They also recognize that not every family has access to it.
“Affordable homeownership helps build stronger communities,” Curt says. “As builders, we have the experience and knowledge to be part of the solution.”
That perspective led Sterling Homes to partner with Habitat.
“It felt like a natural fit,” Curt explains. “We saw an opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way and support families working toward something that will have a lasting impact.”
The people behind the partnership
Support for Habitat is not limited to leadership. It shows up in the people who volunteer their time on build sites.
On team Build Days, Sterling Homes employees step away from their regular roles and onto active construction sites. Teams work alongside volunteers and future homeowners, contributing directly to homes taking shape.

“Build days have been incredibly meaningful for our team,” Curt says. “They give people a chance to be part of something hands-on and see the impact in a different way.”
For many, the experience reconnects them to why they chose this industry.
“We often hear things like, ‘This reminded me why I wanted to work in homebuilding,’” he says. “It’s one thing to build houses. It’s another to see what that means for a family.”
Building beyond the blueprint
For Sterling Homes, supporting Habitat is about more than a single day on site. It reflects a broader belief about the role builders can play.
“Many families are facing barriers to homeownership right now,” Curt says. “Partnerships like this allow us to combine resources and experience to help address that.”
It is a way for the homebuilding industry to contribute beyond the homes it sells and help expand access to affordable homeownership.
“The industry has a real opportunity to be part of the solution,” Curt adds. “Not just through financial support, but by getting involved and showing up.”
“Together, we can amplify Habitat’s impact and ensure that families across Alberta have the opportunity to create better lives through homeownership.”
