ReStore-Spring-Cleaning

It’s our favourite time of the year, spring cleaning season! Whether you are renovating your kitchen, upgrading appliances or furniture, or cleaning out your garage, spring is the perfect time to declutter and freshen up your home.

Spring cleaning can seem like a daunting task, but we promise it can be enjoyable.

  1. Put on your favourite playlist or podcast and gather your cleaning supplies!
Spring cleaning can also be me made more enjoyable by playing your favourite music or podcast. Before you get into the spring cleaning rhythm, gather all of your supplies, such as rubber gloves, cleaning product, bucket, rags, vacuum, mop, etc.
  2. Clean one room at a time.
Pick one room to begin cleaning top to bottom. Once you have one room cleaned, reorganized and decluttered, it will empower you to tackle the next room. Take you time to thoroughly clean each room and before you know it, your spring cleaning will be complete!
  3. Tackle the most daunting thing first.
Each room has that one dreaded item to clean. When you enter each room take a moment to determine what might be most challenging to clean and set out to tackle it. Once you have the hardest part over with, the rest of the room will feel like a breeze.
  4. Don’t be afraid to say goodbye to items!
As Marie Kondo from Tidying Up would say, does it spark joy? If not, get rid of it. Go through each drawer, cupboard and closet, leave no space overlooked!
  5. Be eco-conscious with your disposal.
Once you have made your way through each room, you will have a pile of items you will want to dispose of. While it might seem tempting to simply toss everything into the garbage, it isn’t the most environmentally conscious decision. Take a few mixtures to sort through your trash and determine what times can be donated.

Household items such as furniture and appliances can be donated to Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The ReStore will even pick-up donations for free!

Spring cleaning can be a large project, but it’s totally worth it!
