The fall season shifts the focus of many householders from being away on summer vacation to improving home life with a home renovation project.
For many householders, fall is an ideal time to focus on small or large improvement projects in their homes.
However, many of us may be falling behind the new trends, especially when we are bombarded by thousands of new emerging products and solutions ranging from design, colours, new energy-efficient and eco-friendly building materials and many other options and choices.
That’s why the Calgary Fall Home Show is a great event for you to see what’s hot and worth paying attention to this home reno season.
As one of the exhibitors for many years now, the ReStore team has gathered together four facts about the show that you should know before you go.
#1 - When, how much and where?
The Calgary Fall Home Show is taking place at the BMO Centre again this year from Thursday, September 21 to Sunday, September 24.
Show hours will run from:
- Thursday, September 21 4 am - 9 pm
- Friday, September 22 12 am - 9 pm
- Saturday, September 23 10 am - 9 pm
- Sunday, September 24 10 am - 6 pm
The ticket prices vary from $7 to $16. You can purchase your tickets online or at one of the box offices outside the show entrance.
Calgary ReStore is also giving away five pairs of tickets to lucky winners on Facebook. All you need to do is like the post below and share it with your friends. We’ll pick a lucky winner on Thursday morning.
#2 - The must-attend seminars to master your inner DIYer presented by Outside the Shape and Heart & Swirl.
DIY workshops are great for anyone who don’t feel like paying $500 for a 30-minute household project, especially when it's a job you can do yourself for only $20.
You can simply attend a few workshops during all four days to learn new skills, uncover your inner DIYer, find like-minded friends and create your very own handcrafted home décor items.
All of this is even more enjoyable with the complementary wine and food samples.
You can sign up for workshops here.

#3 - Upcycle Challenge presented by Rust-Oleum® in a new format
When: September 21-24
Time: All Day
This year’s Upcycle Challenge is presented in a slightly new format, but the core idea behind this fun challenge is the same.
Five of Calgary’s most prominent designers have been given a challenging task to upcycle a basic IKEA nightstand from IKEA into a bold, striking piece of furniture, using only Rust-Oleum® paints and stains and a frugal $50 design budget.
Each entry will be exhibited and sold in a silent auction, with 100% of auction proceeds benefitting Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta, to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership.
Participants Include:
Chantal Miyagishima - Knitatude
Meryl Lee - Inspired Findings
